Work Experience

January 1995 - Present: CompuBooks Business Services

President and Owner of business consulting, computer training and business process re-engineering service. Clients include a wide variety of businesses, from health professionals and economists to publishers, retailers, graphic designers and photographers. September 1988 - January 1995: Marky's Delicatessen Inc.

Manager, computer and business consultant for a group of family restaurants. Duties included government correspondence and requirements, office, expenses, purchases, accounts payable, payroll, promotion, cash flow, as well as the preparation of computerized financial records for review by accountants for annual financial statements.

November 1987 - September 1988: William M. Mercer Limited, Management Consultants

Executive Compensation Consultant responsibilities included the research of executive compensation strategies of North American corporations and the providing of compensation and benefit advice to clients.



April 1987 - November 1987: Connaught Laboratories Limited

Senior Financial Analyst responsibilities included the costing of various vaccines and the compilation of financial statements.



June 1984 - April 1987: Xerox Canada Inc.

Positions held were Financial Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst, and Senior Marketing Analyst at the Xerox Canada Head Office. Company expenses and revenues were analyzed and projected, and business plans were prepared.

February 1984 - May 1984: The Globe and Mail, Report on Business

The duties of this contract position included the study of various industries as well as the development of the financial database for the very first issue of the ROB 1000. Findings on those industries resulted in research bylines in that magazine which made its debut June 1984. In addition, the position required studying and analyzing hundreds of annual reports, as well as calculating various financial performance ratios and returns for inclusion in the database.



September 1983 - April 1984: York University Faculty of Administrative Studies

Teaching Assistant for Finance Professor during second year of MBA.



June 1983 - August 1983: Loblaw Companies Limited

Summer position as marketing analyst included the study of a particular food group sold in the supermarkets, their pricing, physical positioning, and their promotion.

May 1982 - August 1982: Towers, Perrin, Forster & Crosby, Actuarial Consultants

Summer position duties included the calculation and preparation of employee pension statements for various clients.



May 1980 - April 1982: University of Toronto, Robarts Library - Library Technician - special project.

Full time summer and part time school year position involved the brief cataloguing of a backlog of books in various languages.

All Windows operating systems, DOS, spreadsheet, word processing and other office essentials, Simply Accounting, ACCPAC PLUS, Quicken, all versions of QuickBooks, MYOB, PC Law, Business Vision, NewViews, and many other Windows-based programs;

Experience in use of MacIntosh versions of many of the above-named programs;

Extensive use of the Internet for research and communications purposes; Computer networking, configuration and setup experience; HTML coding and File Transfer Protocol usage;

Programming in several languages; Xerox Star and 6085 LAN systems; SAS usage; VAX computer.
